Lemon Aid is
Saving Main Street's Trees

Trees are one of the best ways to reduce carbon dioxide in our atmosphere and add oxygen to our air.  In its lifetime one tree can take enough carbon dioxide out of the air to equal one car driving 4,000 miles.  So we need to plant 3 or 4 trees each year for every car on the road.

Main Street in Northport used to be lined with big beautiful old trees.  Now they're being cut down when they become diseased ... and they're not being replaced.  Instead of adding the trees we need to add, we're actually decreasing them!

And trees are like big carbon banks.  They hold all the carbon dioxide inside them, and when we cut them down they release all that carbon dioxide back into the air.  So not only are we taking trees away when we need more of them, but we're also adding more to our carbon emissions!

I once read that we should "think globally, but act locally."  That means try to help the Earth by trying to help your community.  So I'm working to help save the Earth by saving Main Street's trees.

I use the money I raise from my Lemon Aid stand to buy trees for Main Street.  During the winter I also sell hot chocolate at the sledding hill on Valley Road (off Ocean Avenue).

If you want to help you can come visit my Lemon Aid stand in front of the blue house on Main Street near the corner of Church Street/Ocean Avenue on Memorial Day or Cow Harbor Day (Sunday September 18, 2011).  Or you can come get some nice warm hot chocolate and enjoy great sledding on Valley Road!

If you don't live near Northport, you can follow the directions on my Donations page to send donations.

Or you could even donate a tree!

Thanks for your help!
